HEAD’s geographical region encompasses more than 86 counties in Appalachia. This area is made up of predominantly underserved rural areas of Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is a federal agency that coordinates federal funding for Appalachian counties. The Appalachian region runs from New York to Mississippi and includes the counties in the following states: Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia. HEAD can operate in any Appalachian defined county in the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.
